Getting Started

Add your first spot

Tap the map icon to browse 500+ preset kite spots worldwide, or drop a pin anywhere to add a custom location.

Choose your weather model

myWind offers 11 weather models including GFS, ECMWF, ICON, and AI-enhanced options. Tap the model picker (top right) to switch between them.

Set your wind range

Go to Settings and adjust the dual slider to set your minimum and maximum rideable wind. The app color-codes everything around your preferences.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate are the forecasts?

myWind uses the same professional weather models used by meteorologists. Use the Multi Models view to see where models agree — higher agreement means higher confidence.

Why do some models show different wind speeds?

Each model uses different physics, resolution, and data sources. Regional models (HRRR, GEM-HR, NAM) are higher resolution but only cover specific areas. BLEND averages all enabled models for a balanced view.

Is my data private?

Yes. All your spots, settings, and session logs are stored locally on your device. We have no servers, no accounts, no tracking, and no analytics. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Does the app work offline?

Previously loaded forecasts are cached and available offline. New data requires an internet connection to fetch from the weather APIs.

What does the "Simulated" badge on tides mean?

When real tide data is unavailable, myWind uses a mathematical tidal simulation based on lunar cycles. It provides a reasonable approximation but may differ from actual tide tables.

How do I change the language?

myWind automatically uses your device language. It supports English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. Change your device language in Settings to switch.

Troubleshooting

Forecast not loading

Check your internet connection. Pull down to refresh. If the issue persists, try closing and reopening the app.

Location not detected

Make sure location services are enabled for myWind in your device Settings. The app only uses location during initial setup to find nearby spots.

Map not displaying

The map requires an internet connection. If tiles don't load, check your connection and try again.
